Biography

Jean Paul Ndjemba Abessolo is the Founder and Group Chief Executive Officer of Matha Capital Group, the financial services platform comprising Matha Capital and Matha Securities. He leads the Group’s strategy, growth, and regional expansion, driving its mission to deliver world-class financial advisory, securities brokerage and investment solutions across key African markets.

With a strong background in banking, corporate finance, and capital markets, Jean Paul has built a reputation for structuring innovative financial solutions and guiding clients through complex, cross-border transactions. Prior to founding Matha Capital Group, he held senior roles in international banking institutions in Asia and Africa, where he gained extensive experience in fundraising, structured finance, and investment strategy.

Jean Paul is widely recognized for his thought leadership on African financial markets, capital flows, and private investment trends. He is a frequent contributor to discussions on the future of finance in Africa, the role of innovation, and the emergence of new financial institutions shaping the continent’s growth.

Abou is continuing to expand his influence and vision across sub-Saharan African markets bringing what could be viewed as complex corporate finance solutions, in a rather simplified but solid package to the market.

Biography

Gilles Dockgne has 23 years’ experience in Financial Markets and advisory in Africa.

He is an Executive Director with Matha Group since 2018.

He has been Head of Financial Markets Sales for West Africa for Standard Chartered Bank. With responsibilities across Cameroon, Gabon, Cote d’Ivoire, Senegal, Gambia and Sierra Leone) in servicing the institutional (sovereign, central and commercial banks) and corporate clients across Financial Market instruments including rates, foreign exchange, commodities and derivatives.

Before joining Standard Chartered bank, Gilles was respectively internal auditor and Assistant Treasurer with Commercial Bank of Cameroon and Ecobank Cameroon.

He holds a postgraduate diploma in Management of Banks and Financial Institutions from the Catholic university of Lille – France, and a Masters in Finance from the Skema Business school of Lille - France.

Emmanuel NAMBWARE

Biography

Emmanuel has had a long career in trading, credit structuring and selling treasury products across many geographies, starting his banking career in Zimbabwe and briefly into Zambia. Emmanuel spent a good amount time in Ghana and Cote d'Ivoire with international banks, trading currencies, credit products and was from time to time tasked with setting up desks to trade new and complex treasury and deploying same across the West Africa region. Emmanuel has also had a stint in such countries as UAE, India and Nigeria on similar jobs.

Biography

Charity is a seasoned finance professional with 15 years’ experience across various sectors in the financial services industry including banking and financial advisory. She is currently the Managing Director of Matha Capital Rwanda where she oversees the growth of the firm’s footprint in the country through originating and structuring innovative solutions for public and private sector clients in the areas of debt fundraising, debt sustainability as well as liquidity and risk management.

Prior to this role, she held various positions at Bank of Kigali where she worked for close to 10 years. Her last role was as a Senior Manager in charge of Corporate Credit Appraisal where she was responsible for implementing the Bank’s credit risk management strategy in lending to corporate and SME customers operating across a broad range of sectors.

She also worked with Ernst and Young Rwanda where, she led engagement teams in servicing clients with revenues of up to US$ 60 million in the financial services, oil and gas and hospitality sectors among others.

She possesses vast knowledge and expertise in credit appraisal and due diligence, transaction structuring and relationship management as well as project finance.

Charity holds an MBA in Finance from Oklahoma Christian University and a Bachelor of Business Administration in Accounting from the School of Finance and Banking Rwanda.

Biography

As an experienced banker and IT engineer, Zacharie brings a unique blend of experience and knowledge in investment banking, project management and IT. He oversees execution and closure of complex structured finance transactions while ensuring the group technology backbone remain robust, innovative and secure.

Alice MUGENI

Alice MUGENI

Associate Director
Biography

Alice brings over five years of experience in finance, investment, and accounting, with expertise in corporate finance, advisory, and audit before joining Matha Capital. She has worked with BK Capital, the investment banking arm of Bank of Kigali, and PwC Rwanda, auditing some of the largest financial portfolios in the country.

Her career also spans finance roles at ZoraBots Africa and Qsourcing Rwanda, and she has participated as an equity analyst in the CFA Society East Africa Challenge.
